ECS Inspector

The ECS Inspector offers a unique WYSIWYG preview into the conversion process, enabling further streamlining via user-directed action if required. Before any XML is generated, a user can examine the structures and text that the ECS Engine has automatically identified. Results are presented in an intuitive single window, so there is no need to open the original document in the original application, and compare it with XML output. No XML expertise is required—the ECS Inspector is intuitive enough for even a novice user.

The ECS Inspector also enables the user to add value to the converted content, or specify how ambiguous input materials should be structured.

Example:
A series of financial reports from different organizations contains images that are fundamental to the data (charts, graphs, etc) as well as photographs of corporate executives. Logos of partners and significant customers are also included, in addition to the organizations' corporate logos. In other words, the reports contain many images which will be used in different ways - the executive photographs and the logos, for example, are unlikely to be of interest to a reader scanning for specific financial data.

During the conversion process for these reports, the ECS Inspector would enable a non-technical user to classify the images (chart, person, logo, etc) via simple point-and-click. This would automatically flag the XML output, enabling post-conversion processes to put, for example, chart and graph images in a table of contents, whilst cross-referencing photographic images in an "executive officers" index, or even excluding them altogether if desired.
